Warren- John Clyde Nott, aged 83, passed away on February 3, 2026, at the Gillette Nursing Home in Warren due to complications from dementia and prostate cancer. Born on September 17, 1942, in Warren, Ohio, John was the son of the late Frank E. and Elizabeth J. Nott. His life was a testament to hard work, service, and the love of family, community, and country.
John's early career at General Motors showcased his determination and leadership as he rose from a committee man to a zoneman, earning respect and admiration from his colleagues. His strong work ethic was matched by his commitment to advocacy, exemplified by his active role in the UAW Local #112.
A proud veteran, John served his nation with honor aboard the USS Enterprise aircraft carrier during the Vietnam War. His time in the United States Navy was a defining period, and he carried the lessons of discipline and camaraderie throughout his life. After being honorably discharged on October 11, 1971, John continued to exhibit the same dedication to his country and fellow veterans as a member of the VFW, where he also served as a bartender.
Upon retirement, John moved to Calabash, North Carolina, where his entrepreneurial spirit led him to start a small lawn business and a quick lube shop. His ventures were more than businesses; they were extensions of his commitment to serve his community and connect with others.
John's passion for life extended to his hobbies. He was an enthusiastic fan of NASCAR, the Cleveland Indians, and the Cleveland Browns, sharing his love for sports with friends and family. For several years, he bred and raised bulldogs, dedicating himself to the care and well-being of these beloved companions.
He is survived by his children, Jason (Nicole) Nott of Warren, OH, and Jennifer (Troy) Smith of Martin, GA ; his siblings, Betty (Jim) Blaney, Elizabeth (John) Nickle, Beverly (Chuck) Thorndell, and Frank "Skip" (Debbie) Nott, and Phil Nott; and his grandchildren, Logan Nott, Jacob, Cole, and Lucas Smith.
John was preceded in death by his sister, Mable Nott, whose memory he held close to his heart.
Arrangements were handled by Beacon Funeral and Cremation Services in Warren.
