Leonard "PJ" Cox

Niles-Leonard "PJ" Cox, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 65 on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Mercy Health-St. Joseph Warren Hospital. Born in Coudersport, Pennsylvania on May 8, 1959, to the late Oscar C. and Dorothy (Zink) Cox.

PJ was a talented and self-employed auto mechanic, known for his ability to solve any mechanical puzzle with his inventive thinking. His passion for cars was not just his profession but also a hobby he shared with his son and grandsons, whom he loved to mentor. PJ's hands were rarely still, as he was always working on a project or coming up with ideas to help with financial needs. He liked sunny days and loved a good garden. PJ was known for his giving nature it was evident in everything he did, from the way he ran his business to the way he cared for his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of love and memories cherished by his children, twins Lesa Cox and Lesha Cox, Leshael Cox, and Leonard Cox Jr. PJ's sister, Martha Richard, his grandchildren, Alex, Nisiah, Alecia, Jvaughn, Evan, Ja'khi, Khyran, Sa'niah, Aden, Kamden, Aleah, Jordan, and Makensie), will miss his guidance, stories, and the warm laughter that filled their times together. He also leaves a long-time family friend David Astolfi.

Besides his parents, PJ was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Dorothy Cox, He was also preceded in death by his siblings Rachael Begenau, Esther Cook, Kitty Goodwin, Sharon Griffith, and Sam Cox. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories of PJ on Monday, March 10, 2025, from 12:00 noon until 1:00 PM at Beacon Funeral and Cremation Services, located at 310 Austin Ave. SW Warren, OH(located in lower level of Community Church of God in Christ. A funeral service celebrating PJ's life will commence at 1:00 PM at the funeral home, following the visitation.
